Alpha Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust based in Stoke on Trent, comprising two secondary and three primary schools. RM recently supported the trust in renewing IT hardware across all five of its schools, helping them save £11,800 in the first six months of 2024 through HP’s Brighter Futures trade-in scheme.
Challenge
Alpha Academies Trust aims to provide a first-class education for every child and to tackle inequality. Technology plays a crucial role in their strategy, with digital investments enhancing both teaching and operational practices. However, managing and renewing devices across multiple schools can be complex and costly.
Solution
As Alpha Academies Trust's IT managed service provider, RM manages the renewal of the trust’s devices on a five-year cycle. By using data collected from its systems, RM identifies which devices are due for replacement and which are eligible for recycling. This enables the trust to maximise the cashback under HP’s Brighter Futures scheme, which offers up to £150 per recycled device.
RM handled the claims and coordinated the return of the old hardware, ensuring the trust received £11,800 cashback from the trade-in programme. These savings were then reinvested in Alpha’s technology strategy, further enhancing the digital tools available across the trust.
Every device purchased via the Brighter Futures scheme generates carbon credits. The credits are invested in certified Woodland Carbon Code schemes that focus on peatland or woodland regeneration in the UK.
In the first six months of 2024, Alpha Academies Trust created 71 carbon credits through Brighter Futures, which it can allocate to its environmental, social and governance goals and reporting.
